Phased Return to Training

Rugby is now in the off season and the club have always recommended that there should not be any rugby training to allow players to rest and recover between seasons. In addition, RFU regulation 15 “Age Grade Rugby” does not permit any rugby training with contact or any competitive matches with the exception of some of the older age groups who are permitted to play 7-a-side rugby.

Current indications are that senior team rugby will not start in September 2020 and could well be delayed until late 2020 or even early 2021, and it is not clear at present what the competition / playing format will be for youth and minis next season. The RFU released guidelines on 2nd June stating that limited non-contact rugby training for up to 6 individuals (1 of whom is the coach) is now permitted, however the Ruislip Rugby Club committees’ primary concern is the health and safety of our players, coaches, their families and our club members. With that in mind the committee is taking a prudent approach and will keep the rugby club closed until further notice and is not permitting the restart of any organised team training. However, the committee certainly encourages individual training and team coaches setting out training plans for all their players.

The committee will review the COVID-19 situation and send out an update on 1st July when hopefully the situation will have improved.
