Club Update – March 2023

By March 10, 2023November 27th, 2023No Comments

The club have recently contracted with one of our sponsors, Henshall & Sheehy, to undertake maintenance in the clubhouse, ensuring our facilities are well looked after. Most recent improvements have included looking at our water systems, and ensuring the clubs fire risk is low looking at fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and new signage. All bar staff will be trained in evacuation procedures.

Each age group has 2 coaches/parents who have access to the PROACTIVE app. This keeps a centralised log of all accidents/injuries that happen during training and matches, including any monitoring required.

The bar is now serving a number of gluten free drinks options including Peroni Lager and Brewdog Punk IPA

Our summer rugby touring season is beckoning.

  • Mini’s – Burnham on Sea
  • U13’s -Darlington
  • U14’s – Mumbles, Wales
  • U15’s – Darlington Seniors – Barcelona

A large number of coaches and some parents have recently taken part in two nights of first aid training at the club. The event was run by Omnia Training Solutions and ably led by Stuart McNicholl. There was an overall consensus by the committee, following changes to Regulation 9 and the importance being placed on player welfare, who agreed to pay for this training. All age grade contact matches and training sessions require a level of pitchside first aid. We are hoping that these updated regulations improve the playing experience of our youngsters, but also show that Ruislip RFC are prioritising the safety of all of our players and showing the responsibility to support their welfare.

Thank you to all of those below who are now qualified first aiders

Dan Camacho- U9’s coach It truly is a privilege to be part of the coaching team for our Under 9’s. Rugby. Is. Special.

As a coaching team we want our children and their teammates to benefit from the enjoyment, challenge, inclusiveness and personal development that we ourselves have experienced on our rugby journeys. I am very proud to be a coach and a father of a Ruislip Rugby club player.

I am sure all of our parents would agree that this club truly is a rugby club rooted in its community and has inclusivity at its heart. I am so happy to be playing my small part in this clubs present and bright future.

Come on the Rui!

Sunday 12th March saw Ruislip RFC host the U10s Middlesex Festival at the club. What a fantastic event attended by 17 clubs with 32 teams from across Middlesex.

A massive thank you to Under 10’s coach Paul Gibson for leading the planning and organisation this year ably assisted by Mini’s Chair, Aaron Chichon.

A huge shout out to all of the wonderful volunteers from across the club for making the day such a huge success.

It is great to see our current crop of Under 18 players starting to transition into senior rugby at Ruislip, growing and strengthening our senior men’s section.

Fourteen of our U18 players are making the move to senior rugby with no fewer than seven turning out in the victory against Old Actonians 2s in February (from left to right, Ethan Tindley, George Chisholm, Rohan Patel, Thomas Whittaker, Jack Doody, Raffi Chinnick and Adam Knowles).

Great credit should also be paid to our senior men’s section who work hard to create a positive welcome for our youngsters as they join the senior squad.
